CV Writing

Tired of applying for jobs and not hearing anything back?

We know the frustration all too well, and we know how easy it is to dish out generic advice like:

• Use more numbers.
• Use fewer pages.
• Use clearer language.

But self-promotion, especially on a written CV, just isn't something many people learn or invest in because it's a skill you might only need once or twice in your whole life!

Why DIY when you can call in some trusted experts? I wouldn't cut my own hair or take out my own appendix!

Isn't it cheating?

No.
Getting help to show your "best self" happens all the time. Execs don't take their own headshots for their corporate photos, write their own blog posts, or do their own accounts. The newsreaders don't do their own make-up either.

The truth is, we didn't write our first CV out of the job either. We both paid someone who had also left the police that could show us how our experiences could be written better for corporate audiences.

For us, seeing our skills and achievements written up in a "corporate" style was the most motivational moment in our career change journey.

How this works:

This isn't a run-of-the-mill, AI-generated template CV we offer. It's a completely bespoke service, with cops who understand your career history, identify what matters most, and translate it in a way that makes sense to those with no police background.

1. Fact-Finding Call

You book a fact-finding call, where we'll interview you about:

• The roles you want to apply for and why.
• Your Mission - What you want to do.
• Your Value - What makes you great at it?
• Your Evidence - How you can prove it.
• Your work history.
• Your academic achievements.

We'll take detailed notes, review the job adverts you're interested in, and understand how you want to present yourself.

2. First Draft:

Then we get to work. We'll work in Google Docs to build the first version of your CV in a professional, clean, effective format preferred by recruitment professionals. No "progress bars" or fancy layouts here.

Once it's ready, we'll send you an invite so you can collaborate with us on it live.

It will not be perfect - there's always missing information, things that weren't thought of, or areas we can dig a little deeper. This is absolutely normal and leads us into...

3. Revisions

The document will be full of comments from us - requests for a little extra clarification or new thinking.  To get the best results possible, we'll need to work together to create the final version.

We ask that you do your best to answer the questions, and we encourage you to let us know if you've got any concerns or clarifications of your own.

Once you've made your updates, we'll get back to work polishing it all up.

We can go through this process twice, and if we need a third round, we'll schedule an extra call to make sure you're completely happy with the final product.

What We Don't Do:

We cannot guarantee that the CV we write will bring you success in your next job application.

We'll do absolutely everything we can to give you the best chance of success, but we can't make up evidence for you, and there is no surefire way to secure an interview.

• They may no longer be hiring
• They may have an internal applicant
• There may be applicants that fit better

There are hundreds of reasons for rejection, and unfortunately, it is simply part of the process.

What we do promise is that if we can't craft you a CV that you're proud to use within 2-3 weeks, we'll refund you in full.

Why use us?

Over the years, we've helped over 100 cops from 2-year PC to 25+ Chief Supers make themselves look good on paper.

We know what works.

The key to making your CV stand out is to avoid leaning on your responsibilities, like "SIO of the major and complex crimes unit", and focus on demonstrating your impact through results and numbers.

We'll help you dig into your career history and work out the most impactful ways of demonstrating what you're capable of.

Terms and Conditions:

We charge £250 for the service and payment is taken upfront.

We believe what we offer is worth the fee, and we believe you will too.

The process is complete once we agree the final version of the CV, which will be shared with you as a Google Doc, PDF and DocX file, so you can edit it however you wish moving forward, should you need to.

If you are not 100% happy with the results, let us know and we'll refund you in full - no hard feelings.

Our availability is extremely limited, and purchasing a service takes away an opportunity from someone else who needs it, so please be as prompt as you can in sending us any documents and responding to comments and emails.

You are responsible for proofreading, finalising and verifying the accuracy and quality of your documents before submitting them to a job application or any networking. You're under no obligation at all to use any advice, suggestions or documents provided by us - you choose to do at your own discretion.
